Habiart Foundation has been involved in the promotion of contemporary Indian art since 1989. The Foundation prides itself on a comprehensive exhibitions program, drawing upon local and international sources to secure the finest collections available for public viewing. Renowned Indian artists such as A. Ramachandran, Arpana Caur, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Ganesh Haloi, M.F. Hussain, Satish Gujral, Sunil Das, Suhas Roy, Shymal Dutta Ray and many others have exhibited their works along with internationally reputed names such as Shahbuddin Shah, Shakti Burman, Maite Delteil and Thomas Easley. Through workshops, seminars and art exhibitions the gallery has also provided impetus to a growing number of younger artists. |

Today, the Foundation is also at the forefront of Indian efforts to seek an intelligent dialogue with the arts of our region. The Saarc nations of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Burma, Sri Lanka and Maldives have a common cultural base and it has long been felt that Saarc Art Forum to encourage inter-cultural art exchanges is much needed. The national character of Habiart Foundation?s art efforts and its links with important art centres across the country have been instrumental in its endeavor to bring awareness to the creation of such a Forum. Art exchanges with Nepal and Bangladesh are already underway and links with other SAARC countries are being slowly developed.

Rekha Mody, Founding Trustee of Habiart Foundation, has curated more than 150 contemporary art events featuring important and upcoming artists. She is also the founder of Genesis Art Gallery Kolkata . Many art events including Interactive art camps, seminars and international art exhibitions from Russia, Nepal and Pakistan have been organised by her since 1986. Sphote Art against terror was mounted in the Parliament and World Economic Forum Davos. Hello Mona Lisa celebrating five hundred years is a successful creative project of hers. She is at present mobilizing establishment of Arts council of India.
